While working with Midjourney on the Sandstone, Arbutus and Kelp Collection for this site, I occasionally produce designs that make me inhale sharply as a chord of memory and emotion are evoked by the image. This is just such an image. As I've mentioned elsewhere, our family spent long summer vacations every year on the west coast of Thetis Island, one of the smaller Gulf Islands. We camped on a huge chunk of private land, right at the water's sculpted sandstone edge, just under the forest canopy. I've crossed that transition from forest to beach more times than I can count, and this image puts me right there, preparing to squint, brushing off the last mosquito.
