The term "Aloha Alternative" was coined with a very broad definition in mind. It includes any pattern that I think captures the essence of the traditional Hawaiian shirt and its descendants. Bold, vivid, and saturated colours are often at play here, as is strong contrast. The use of repeated symbols and images around a theme is also a common feature of this casual favourite, and I have leaned into that tradition very eagerly. My love of abstract sometimes influences the results as well.
